We watch'd his joyous life unfold
Its new-born beauties day by day
And never thought that God would take
Our bright-eyed darling boy away.

Yet he has gone to that bright land
Where tears shall never dim his eye--
Where sweeter joys await his soul
Than this brief world could e'er supply.

Then, to Thy will, oh, God, we bow,
And pray Thou wilt our hearts sustain,
And lead us by Thy loving hand
Where we may meet our boy again.
  Stuart, Effie Mary d. 13 Sep 1875 2 yrs. 9 mos. 13 days R S
Stuart. On Monday morning, at 6:25 o'clock, September 13, 1875, of croup, Effie Mary, aged 2 years 9 months and 13 days, only daughter and child of F.M. and Bessie M Stuart. The friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at the residence of her father, 728 4 1/2 street southwest, on tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon, at 3 o'clock.

A peculiar sadness surrounds little Effie's death, But a few days past her parents consigned their only boy to the silent tomb, and now their home is childless, and their hearts stricken with a two-fold sorrow. In this sad hour of affliction they have the sympathy of all feeling hearts, and the priceless consolation that ere the breath of sin stained their pure souls God called them to the bosom of the Redeemer.
Thou art gone to meet thy brother
In the spirit realm above
While angels haste to greet thee
With songs of endless love.

His enraptured spirit called thee
From the dark'ning scenes of time,
To the land of light and beauty,
Where no sorrow shall be thine.

Where thy songs of joyful triumph
On Spirit-wing shall fly
With healing balm for wounded heart,
To stay the mournful sigh.

"No more pain or sorrow, mother,
Happy we shall ever be;
And your children--sister, brother--
Live in endless ecstacy."
A Friend.
