Ridgely, Cornelia Louisiana | d. 21 Mar 1830 | 27 yrs. 2 mos. 27 days | R 30 S 32-33 | |
Ridgely. At the Mansion Hotel in this City, on the afternoon of the 21st instant, in the 28th year of her age, Mrs. Cornelia L. Ridgely, consort of Commodore Ridgely, of the Navy, and granddaughter of the late Chancellor Livingston. For years Mrs. Ridgely had been afflicted with a pulmonary complaint, which, baffling all medical skill, terminated only with her existence on earth. Although thus early cut off, she had lived long enough to gain the esteem and affection of numerous friends and acquaintances, who mingle their tears in sympathy with a bereaved husband and children, for the loss which they have sustained in the death of this amiable, pious, and exemplary lady. Heaven! take thine own! "Thy will be done!" Thy ways are inscrutable to man, whose first duty is submission to thy decrees.
