A claim for bounty land was filed November 22, 1850 by Ann Palmer, widow of Morris Palmer, and resident of Washington, D.C. Her affidavit states Morris Palmer, deceased, was Sergeant in the Corps of Marines commanded by Lieutenant Colonel F. Wharton, in the War of 1812; entered the Corps at Washington about June 1, 1810 for a term of five years and served during its continuance; was honorably discharged June 1, 1815; re-enlisted June 1, 1815, at the Headquarters, Marine Corps, Washington, D.C.
