Licarion. On Monday morning, September 29th, 1884, Irene, beloved daughter of Hyacinth and Margaret Licarion, aged 5 years and 8 months.
     The morning was bright, and balmy the air,
     And yet our household was dark;
     For the phantom of death had entered in
     To quench life’s flickering spark.

     And Irene lay there with her golden hair
     And blue eyes hollow and dim;
     patient she was, nor uttered a moan,
     Nor shrank from the phantom grim.

     I could only weep and fondle her hands
     O, waxen, thin hands were they;
     And hover above her, so eager to catch,
     The words she might have to say.

Funeral will take place from her parents’ residence, 1121 Pennsylvania avenue southeast, on Wednesday, October 1st, at 3 o’clock p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
