Ladd, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" (Age 73). On Tuesday, July 15, 2003, of Waldorf, MD. Preceeded in death by her father, John Cowens; mother, Estelle D. Cowens; siblings, Mildred and Frances and a great-granddaughter, Samantha; beloved mother of John Ladd, Deborah Kapanoske, Paul Ladd, Mary Edwards, Karen McClure, Steven Ladd, and Ann Breslin; loving grandmother of 15; devoted great grandmother of eight. Also survived by her brothers, Bernard and Paul Cowens and many nieces and nephews. Ladd. In this city on Sunday night, after a short illness, Miss Mary Josephine Ladd. The angel of death came early to this sweet girl and transplanted her from a world of sorrow and affliction to the calm serenity of Heaven. She possessed an exceedingly pure mind and gentle heart; and the stricken family have the assurances that she was fully prepared for an exchange of worlds. Her death was as calm and placid as an infant's sleep, and her face beamed with a holy expression. Funeral this afternoon, at 3 o'clock, from Mr. Boak's, corner of 4-1/2 street and Pennsylvania avenue, south side; the relatives and friends are invited to attend.
