Carter, Daniel | d. 2 Nov 1829 | 59 yrs. | R 28 S 51
Carter. In this city, yesterday morning, at 6 o'clock, after a long and lingering illness, which he bore with singular fortitude and Christian resignation, Mr. Daniel Carter, Merchant Tailor, aged 59 years. M.C. was a native of Plymouth, (Eng.) and came to this country, through a love for its institutions, which love he cherished to the day of his dissolution. He was possessed of a naturally strong mind, cultivated by reading and reflection. Through life, he was the firm supporter of the liberties of this country, honest in all his dealings, frank and sincere in his conversation, and regular in his devotions to his God; and in his death, he has given us additional evidence of the good cad of a life of strict morality and of time well spent. His virtues rendered him a citizen of high respectability, and his example will be followed by all witnesses of his goodness. He has left a parentless family to cherish his memory and emulate his virtues; and the esteem of their friends and fellow-citizens will assist in supporting them under their melancholy bereavement. His friends and acquaintances are invited to attend his funeral, from his dwelling, on B, near 3d street west, this afternoon (Tuesday) at 2 o'clock.
