  Canfield, Mary Ann d. 10 Feb 1858 62 yrs. R 76 S 80
Canfield. On the 10th instant, at 9 1/2 o'clock p.m., of paralysis, Mrs. Mary Ann Canfield, in the 63d year of her age. Her short illness was borne with meek submission to the will of God. The same gentle patience and Christian resignation which characterized her in life, sustained her in death, proving how true was the piety that could thus brighten her pathway 'mid the painful trials of this world even to the dark valley that leads to the world unknown. Her death is deeply mourned by a large circle of warm friends who loved her for her thoughtful kindness, her readiness to oblige, and her unvarying amiability of disposition and manners; yet, in their sorrow, they have sweet consolation in their well-grounded belief that she had exchanged the weary burden of life for "an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that fadeth not away." The friends and acquaintances of the family are respectfully invited to attend her funeral on Friday, the 10th instant, at 2 o'clock, p.m., from the residence of her son, corner of 11th and I streets.
