She married Paul Bredekamp on 24 October 1917. Their marriage was officiated by S.H. Puffenberger. Before her marriage to Paul, Ethel was a stenographer for the Honorable Daniel J. Griffin, the Representative from Brooklyn, New York. She died in the influenza epidemic that spread throughout Washington, D.C. during the fall of 1918.
