Axe. At 6 o’clock a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 1877, after a lingering and painful illness, which he bore with Christian fortitude and resignation, John C. Axe, in the 51st year of his age. A good citizen, a kind father, and a faithful friend, he was always foremost in every good work. He labored here for the good of others, and has gone to his reward.
